The King Faisal Prize is an annual award sponsored by King Faisal Foundation allocates to “dedicated men and women whose contributions make a positive difference”. It is held once a year in January of each year and the handover ceremony is within two months of the announcement of the winner. The foundation awards prizes in five categories: Service to Islam; Islamic studies; the Arabic language and Arabic literature; science; and medicine. The prize in each of the five categories consists of: cash, medal, or even certificates. The number of people who received the Faisal Prize 253 represents 44 countries. A son of King Faisal Serves as chairman of the King Faisal Prize.
